1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:

• Account and contact information: your name, email address, phone number, state, community, login information, and authentication details.
• Business and listing information: business name, category, address, contact details, website, description, photos, events, jobs, promotions, blog posts, and other content you submit.
• Community activity: businesses you follow or save, content preferences, event likes or reactions, RSVP activity, and other interactions with the Services.
• Subscription information: plan, subscription status, transaction details, and payment-provider customer identifiers. Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe rather than stored directly by MuslimOwned.
• Location-related information: your selected state and community, business addresses, and coordinates generated from a business address for directory and map features. The Services do not currently collect a community member’s precise device location.
• Usage and technical information: IP address, browser or device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring pages, timestamps, interactions, cookies, and similar diagnostic information.
• Communications: information included when you contact us, request support, or respond to messages from us.
• Potentially sensitive information: because the Services focus on Muslim communities, use of the Services may suggest a religious or community affiliation. We do not require community members to state their religious beliefs, and we do not use an inferred religious affiliation for targeted advertising, sale, or profiling.

2. Sources of information

We collect information directly from you when you create or update a profile, register a business, submit content, interact with businesses or events, purchase a plan, or contact us. We collect technical information automatically from your browser, device, and our servers. We may also receive information from service providers that help us process payments, operate maps, deliver communications, secure accounts, and host the Services.

3. How we use information

We may use information to:

• provide, maintain, personalize, and improve the Services;
• create and manage accounts, listings, subscriptions, events, jobs, and community content;
• show community members relevant local businesses, organizations, events, and updates based on their selected state, community, preferences, and activity;
• authenticate users and send security or verification messages;
• process subscriptions and maintain billing records;
• respond to questions, provide support, and send service-related communications;
• monitor performance, troubleshoot problems, prevent fraud or misuse, and protect the Services;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions; and
• send promotional communications where permitted, subject to your available opt-out choices.

4. How we disclose information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

• Public content: business profiles, business contact information, events, jobs, blogs, promotions, and community updates are intended to be public. They may be visible to anyone, shared by users, and indexed by search engines.
• Payment processors: Stripe receives contact, billing, transaction, and customer-identifier information needed to process payments and provide billing services.
• Map providers: Google may receive business addresses and related technical information to provide geocoding and map features.
• Operational providers: hosting, database, communications, security, and technical-support providers may receive account, contact, technical, usage, and service data as needed to perform services for us.
• Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or governmental requests, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Services.
• Business changes: information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business.
• With your direction: we may disclose information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.

We do not sell personal information, including precise geolocation information. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Cookies, tracking, and browser signals

The website uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, preferences, security, and reliable operation. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent account and business-management features from working.

Some browsers offer a Do Not Track setting. Because there is no universally accepted standard for that signal, the website does not currently respond to Do Not Track. We do not currently sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is no such activity for an opt-out preference signal to disable. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and honor legally required browser-based opt-out signals. Third-party services and content-delivery providers may receive technical information, such as an IP address and browser details, when their resources are loaded.

We do not track community members across third-party apps or websites for advertising or advertising measurement.

6. Data retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain legitimate business and security records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why it was collected. We consider the duration of your account or business relationship, operational needs, legal requirements, fraud prevention, and the time needed for backups to cycle out. Public content may remain visible until it is removed or the associated listing is deactivated.

Mobile app users can initiate deletion of their profile from the account settings in the app. A deletion request removes the profile and associated favorites and interactions from active systems, except for information we must retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or financial-record purposes. Backup copies are removed through our normal backup lifecycle.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to confirm whether we process your personal information, access it, correct inaccuracies, delete it, obtain a portable copy, and receive information about third parties that received it. You may also have the right to opt out of a sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We do not currently conduct those three activities.

You may update certain profile or business information through the Services and may delete a mobile profile through the in-app account settings. You may submit another privacy request by emailing support@muslimowned.net with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. Tell us the right you want to exercise and provide enough information for us to identify the relevant account. We may verify your identity before acting. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, generally within 45 days. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. You can opt out of promotional email using the unsubscribe instructions in the message. Service, account, verification, and security communications may still be sent when necessary. Where we rely on your consent to process information, you may withdraw that consent by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing completed before the withdrawal.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your authentication information private and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

9. Children’s privacy

The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. Account creation, business registration, and content submission are limited to users who meet the eligibility requirements in our Terms & Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.

10. Third-party services and links

The Services may link to third-party websites or use third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when required by law.

12. Contact us
